Ps 68: 1
·
This verse speaks about the devil be scattered.
This means the end of his reign and all his power being lost.
- · On a personal perspective :
o
However, are we letting the devil lose in our
private and personal lives? Are we letting him lose in our work life?
o
Jesus asks us to take up his cross and move forward.
This might be slightly harder. (Mat 16:24)
o
But the
encouragement is that his yolk is easy. (Mathew 11:30) This is something we are
able to handle ourselves.
- · On a broader point of view, we should compare this with the second petition we are asked to make when praying. "Your Kingdom come." (Mathew 6:10)
o
This comes before all the other personal favors
and requirements.
o
The request is that the world is full of
confusion, corruptness, selfishness, addiction and all kinds of evil the devil
could bring upon. We should ask God to bring an end to all this.
o
The devil is the current lord of the earth. (2
Corinthians 4: 4).
o
The request that the Devil is lost forever
should be our primary concern or longing.
- · Some of us stick to beliefs that Jesus might not come as in the last 2000 years.
o
The problem is that they are not ready for his
coming.
o
They are unwilling to let the devil go our
completely in their lives.
- · In Christendom, a common confusion is that we should be waiting for the rapture so that we alone should be saved.
o
This prayer wants us to long for the devil's end
even more than the rapture.
o
For the devil to lose, we should not long for
the rapture, we should long for the second coming. (Rev 19: 11 - 21)
