Psalms 18: 1, 2

Psalms 18:1,2

Love

I will love You, O Lord, my strength.

This is an experience David introduces in the Bible. Enoch was walking with God, Jacob did some wrestling, Moses was faithful etc.. David was the first one to mention that he loves God.

The situation is after David & team were saved from the hand of Saul and other enemies. In this kind of situation our method will be to give a vote of thanks. This guy says "I Love You Lord". I would translate this to a great hug a child gives back to his dad after victory.
That is the type of experience we should have with God.

Safety
In vs 2, David says that the Lord is:
1.       Rock : where we stand upon. A help from underneath.
2.       Fortress : Protection from all around.
3.       Deliverer: Even after I've fallen, he lowers his hand down and lifts me up.
4.       God : The person who looks after me from above and decides on everything else for my safety.
5.       Shield : Comes in between me and the enemy and receives all the enemies darts keeping me safe.
6.       Stronghold: Halfway through my fall, he gestures to help me avoid destruction.

So, God has done all the steps required for our safety. What did David did to receive that?
Vs 20: David was righteous and God gave his reward.

All that David did was to sincerely obey the Lord and he receives all kinds of safety from the Almighty.

We should also understand that my success was because of my obedience to God's mind. I did not make any attempts to plan, think or decide. God did everything that is required for my safety. All I have to do is just obey and enjoy a very safe ride.
